LANDING IN THE METAVERSE
There are turning points in life, where you have to make a decision and choose a path. Left or right? Playing it safe or taking a risk? At Maria Pascual we like challenges. We find challenges and being early adopters energetic. Our fuel to be innovative, creative and grow as a result. So we chose to jump into a spaceship and travel straight to the future, landing in the Metaverse. But before we get into details, let's discuss the Metaverse.

Everyone is talking about the Metaverse

To technical definitions, the Metaverse is a virtual world to which we will connect through a series of devices that will make us think that we are really "living" inside it, since we’ll be able to interact with all its elements. We’ve seen similar things in fiction, the most recent being Spielberg's blockbuster "Ready Player One", which imagines a world in which this virtual reality has so much weight that it eclipses the real one. Yet, it’s a dramatized product of fiction, and we are so far from reaching the scenario portrayed in the film. However, we can see many connections with the movie and what the vision for the Metaverse is.

More than an immersive world, the Metaverse is synonymous with innovation and futurism: an immense source of inspiration for dozens of brands that are already jumping on the bandwagon with collections and digital assets (NFTs) exclusive to this reality. Trust us when we say we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg of the Metaverse.

If all this sounds like science fiction to you and you’re still on the fence about starting to explore the Metaverse, think about social media. Over 10 years ago, platforms like Instagram produced a lot of backlash among some groups and large scale brands. They were skeptical, and saw it as a shallow and banal place. However, Facebook and Instagram have catapulted some cult brands in recent years. Glossier, Bala Bangles or Spain's Nude Project are some examples of how you can grow your community organically with social media.

Instagram is the fashion capital of the 21st century – and the Metaverse is now the sixth fashion week in the planet, with the first-ever Metaverse Fashion Week held last March 24, 2022. Universe Maria Pascual: our first virtual event

Time to talk about Maria Pascual's first virtual event on Decentraland: "Universe Maria Pascual". On February 22nd 2022, we organized the most ambitious event we’ve ever worked on. We developed the project alongside Spanish studio Polygonal Mind. The result was a LAND (Decentraland’s parcels), inspired by the cosmos, the perfect scenario to present the new collection.

On the day of the event, we showcased our first hybrid collection of both physical and digital products, including four designs that coexist in both dimensions (real and virtual). It was the ultimate mix & match and commemorated our landing in the Metaverse. The collection gathered 3 exclusive wearables to be worn by Decentraland’s avatars plus the Astronaut Necklace, a limited-edition, serialized design.

In the conceptual phase, we decided that all products would revolve around the galaxy, since for Maria Pascual the Metaverse meant to land in a new world in the same way that happens with space exploration.The event was only our first stop in the Metaverse. After almost a decade in the world of jewelry, we want to continue to have fun by creating jewelry aligned with the trends of the moment not only in fashion, but in the world. We have a new goal: to pave the way for you, our community, and to be the bridge that connects you with a virtual world that, very soon, will coexist with our reality.

Fashion and the Metaverse

Much of the future of the fashion and luxury industry lies in the Metaverse. To give a few examples, Gucci x Superplastic, Karl Lagerfeld X ENDLESS or Dolce and Gabbana's UNDX collection are NFT collections that sell out in seconds and are priced like gold. Many of them were forced by confinement and the inability to create physical experiences. So they chose to explore digital experiences.

Beyond this, there is a nascent market in NFTs, being considered an early investment in a product that is still in its early days. Haven't you ever thought "I wish I had invested in Amazon 20 years ago"? People who are already immersed in the Metaverse know what's brewing and all the opportunities it hides.

Like anything new, it can be overwhelming - but fear shouldn't hold you back. Maria Pascual carries innovation by flag and, if we intended to be pioneers in the coming years and approach new generations, it was certainly an exciting step we had to take to be relevant in this unusual universe.
